Ive looked at about 10 of these reading apps, including the most extensive (Acceleread, which is way too ambitious for its own good), and this is the only one that is actually useful, and very. The way the developer handles ePubs is excellent (iBooks cant seem to format them correctly when converted from PDF, but Velocireader does), and the rhythm for reading is truly amazing (the stops for punctuation are a really necessary detail).
This is definitely a five-star app and I hope the developers keep pushing forward. A few changes Id like to see:
1) a step forward just like theres a step back. Also, I prefer the icons on the iPhone version to the words on the iPad version (<< instead of "step back".
2) In "Book" mode, double-tapping on the book itself sometimes brings you back to the beginning of the chapter. There are lots of ways to fix this, but double-tapping on text with no visual feedback is just weird. Put some buttons on the left side (every five lines, for instance) so we can get back to speed-reading mode in somewhere near the right place. Doesnt need to be exact.
3) In "Book" mode, the reader doesnt take advantage of screen width... lots of blank space (especially on iPad).
4) Would love to be able to open PDFs directly
However, so many great things, including getting the speed-reading part right. Im already enjoying this and looking forward to getting faster with this way of reading. Good luck with the next phase of development and thank you!
